On Friday night, the Redhawk basketball teams made quick work of the Griffins from Fairfield Central in dominating fashion. In the girls game, the Redhawks used their full-court pressure to get out to an early 12-0 lead. They would never look back as they completely dominated very aspect of the game. Ja’Mari Frederick got the offense going with her sharp shooting skills knocking down 4 three-pointers for a team leading 14 points. Unique Drake would contribute with a double-double also knocking down 14 points and adding 10 assists. Nyah Leveretter would contribute with her first ever Triple-Double as she finished with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 blocks. The Redhawks would come away with the 71-15 victory to setup a big game Tuesday with District Two rival, Spring Valley.
In the boys game, the Redhawks would get off to a quick start and would never look back as they would score off of their stingy defense and transition points to score a 61-39 victory. Santana Turner would come off the bench and play his best game of the season giving the Redhawks a good spark of energy. Sam Stroman would also come off the bench to contribute some good minutes on both ends of the floor. Leading scorers for the Redhawks would be Ta’Jay Dunlap with 16 points and Tyler Huff with 15 points. The Redhawks are now 4-1 on the season and have a big week ahead with contests versus Spring Valley on Tuesday and Friday and will play in the Bojangles Bash on Thursday versus Keenan.
