Boys Varsity Wrestling · Redhawk Wrestling Performs Well at Kingsley Classic


This past weekend, the Redhawk wrestling team traveled to Fort Mill to participate in one of the hardest tournaments in the state and of the year, where 17 teams from 4 different states were in attendance for 2 days of action.

 Our Redhawks had an awesome performance where wrestlers had wins over top teams like last year’s 4A Team State Champions, Eastside (#1 4A) River Bluff (#2 5A), South Pointe (#2 4A) , Lexington (#7 5A), and York (#3 4A).

  Captain, Jordan Hightower finished 1st in his pool and 4th overall.  Jordan had wins over Hayfield (VA), Myers Park (NC), Lexington, and York.  Jordan had a 2 day record of 5-2.

  Tyvion Shannon finished 2nd in his pool and 5th overall.  Tyvion had wins over Eastside, River Bluff, S. Pointe, and Lexington.  Tyvion had an overall record of 5-3.
  Elijah Villa had a great finish in the tournament after battling back from a tough day 1. Eli had a record of 4-4 with big wins over Science Hill (TN) and Lexington.  Eli finished 5th overall
  Javon Brown was in an extremely tough heavyweight bracket and his most notable win was his revenge pin against Fort Mill

3rd place- Drake Lesher, Drevon Johnson, Elijah Villa, Gabe Smith, and Trinity Lunn
4th place- Javon Brown
Next week, the Redhawks have a packed schedule, wrestling Spring Valley and Swansea at Spring Valley on Wednesday.  Thursday, they travel to Cardinal Newman to wrestle Cardinal Newman, AC Flora, and Cross Creek (GA).  Then on Friday, they begin the first day of the 2 day Demon Holiday Tournament at Lugoff Elgin.
