Boys Varsity Wrestling · Wrestling River Bluff Scrimmage Results

Your Redhawk wrestlers had another successful weekend of wrestling at the River Bluff HS scrimmage where they were matched up against Irmo, Lakewood, and North Augusta. The Redhawks went 3-0 for the day.  The first match would be their hardest with a matchup against a tough Irmo team. Winners of the match were Devin Carter (pin), Trinity Lunn (pin), Luther Bells (pin) Elijah Villa (pin), and Tyvion Shannon (5-4 decision).  The Redhawks were able to finish 79% of their takedowns and hold the Yellow Jackets to a low 39%!

Next up, the Redhawks were faced against Lakewood and put on an outstanding performance against the Gators.  Winners for Westwood were Cameron Shepard with a pin in 21 seconds, Gabe Smith with a pin in 42 seconds, Rilan Harkness by minor decision 7-2, Yaniel Taala with a pin in the last second of the match, Grace Oyster by pin, Elijah Villa by pin, Drake Lesher by pin, and Gage Oyster by pin.

And finally, the last match of the day was just as successful and dominate as the previous.  Winners against North Augusta were Cameron Shepard (pin), Gage Oyster (pin), Robert Wade (6-4 minor decision), Trinity Lunn (pin), Luther Bells (pin), Gabe Smith (pin), Elijah Villa (pin), Keith Lindsey (pin), Rilan Harkness (pin), and Drake Lesher (pin).  The Redhawks ended their day with 100% takedown success and holding the Yellow Jackets to 50%. Keith Lindsey’s pin set a new record for Westwood with a pin in just 5 seconds. This speed for a pin is unheard of and will most likely not be matched at Westwood or even in the state for years to come.

8 wrestlers went undefeated on the day: Bells, Harkness, Lesher, Lunn, Gage Oyster. Shannon, Shepard, and Villa

Gabe Smith won Most Outstanding Wrestler for the team by having a hard-fought fight vs one of the best in the (5A) state at Irmo and absolute destruction of all of his other opponents

The Redhawks will have a short break for the holidays, but will have a very busy schedule when we return to school the following week with a match on Wednesday 12/4  at Hammond with the Skyhawks and Camden Military Academy, then on Thursday 12/5, they travel to Brookland-Cayce to face the Bearcats as well as Mid Carolina, and finally they travel to Marion for a team dual tournament on Saturday 12/7.  Please come out and support your Redhawks wrestlers!
